Solskjaer Rates Maguire’s Performance Against His Former Club
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had his say regarding Harry Maguire’s performance against Leicester City.
The backline’s collective efforts helped Manchester United maintain a clean sheet in what turned out to be a crucial 1-0 victory over the Foxes.
Solskjaer was left particularly impressed with the manner in which Maguire dealt with the ever-existent threat of Jamie Vardy, as well as his overall performance against his former club.
Speaking after the game, the Norwegian tactician told the media: “When you play against strikers like Jamie Vardy, you have to concentrate because if you mistime your run, he is in behind you and I thought Harry did well.
“It didn’t look like he missed them too much. He did really well, stuck his head in, and was so calm on the ball, which we needed in the second half.”
The English centre-back himself spoke about facing-off against his ex-teammate, stating: “It was tough playing against Jamie. I’ve played with him for two years and he is a top player who can terrorise defences when he is on his game.”

Then speaking about the victory and what it meant to the team, he added: “We knew it was important to get the win, especially after the international break. We have to build on a solid base and we want to keep clean sheets, especially at Old Trafford.
“We are always going to score goals with the attacking talent we have. We could have kept the ball better but we defended well.”
He concluded by lauding the players brought into the lineup due to injuries, as he said: “The boys who came in looked sharp and fit and a big well done to them. We have games coming thick and fast and I’m sure the manager will utilise the squad, so be patient and take you chance when you get it.”
