Pep Guardiola Met With Fred At Full-Time After Alleged Racist Abuse

Manchester United’s weekend visit to the Etihad Stadium made headlines around the world for all the wrong reasons.

The stadium rocked as United were on their way to win the derby against all odds, despite their recent form. Needless to say this had the home end absolutely rattled as their side trailed by 2 goals. But no level of anger warrants what had happened that day.

As Fred went up to the home end to take a corner, he was received with racial slurs and gestures by numerous City fans.

One of them in particular threw a bottle at the Brazilian’s head and made an offensive gesture towards him. Jesse Lingard confirmed the validity of the incident along with his teammate, who then reported the incident.

The former Shakhtar man had the support of his teammates and boss during this time of difficulty, along with City boss Pep Guardiola as well.

According to MEN, the Spaniard met the midfielder around mixed zone area reserved for reporters to speak with players. It was reported that Guardiola cupped the player’s face and offered him support as he condemned the act by his side’s supporters.

The chief executive of the Skyblues Ferran Soriano is also said to have spoken with United director David Gill and assured the man behind the abuse will be investigated thoroughly and condemned such behaviours.

Soon after, the Greater Manchester Police arrested the 41-year-old who had been identified as the culprit.

Fortunately, the perpetrator is now facing the justice he should be subjected to and he probably will never be allowed inside a stadium. Racism has no place in the beautiful game of football and such acts should be consistently met with consequences.
