Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride. The Red Devils have not had their best season so far, although the highly promising results of the recent weeks have painted a promising ascent in the period ahead.

In spite of all the ups and downs, there have been certain constants in this era at Old Trafford.

Primary amongst these is the Norwegian’s promotion of youth academy players into the first team. Starlets of the past have really flourished under Solskjaer with Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay being the standout names.

Now, one of them is all set to potentially receive a massive reward for his brilliance so far.

According to the Sun, Manchester United are in talks to double Scott McTominay’s existing contract at Old Trafford.

The report cites an alleged Old Trafford source to have stated: “It’s fair to say we are delighted with how Scott has responded to signing his first big contract.”

The contract in question was penned at the beginning of the year and saw the midfielder make £30,000-a-week. Now, this alleged new terms could double that to a £60,000-a-week package.

The source went on to add: “We have always made it clear the big money will come if the younger players perform, they don’t need to be looking enviously elsewhere for it. Some players tail off but he has got his head down and justified the faith the club have shown in him.

“Scott is a prime example of someone who has taken his chance when it came and we will recognise his elevated status.”

These constant antics of brilliance have all big ensured that he will be a regular starter under Solskjaer. The ascent has been one that fans have wholeheartedly welcomed.
