Atletico Madrid Willing To Sell Saul Niguez For £85m
Manchester United’s squad requirements are becoming increasingly obvious, more so in their recent success games than in the defeats.
The frontline is impeccable in their potential and pace through Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James, with the midfield pairing of Fred and Scott McTominay emerging as the go-to option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The backline is slowly developing its best form as well although their errors often leave a lot lacking.
However, on an all-round level, it is the attacking midfield position that has been a recurring woe for the Red Devils. Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard have been lackluster there while Juan Mata hasn’t been consistent in the spot. Paul Pogba could be the ideal starter as a no.10 but that hasn’t been made clear yet due to his own injury troubles.
As of such, United are clearly in the market for such an arrival and a promising name can now be linked.
According to the Telegraph, Atletico Madrid are willing to lower the asking price of midfielder Saul Niguez considerably in the upcoming transfer window.
The 25-year-old Niguez has been a talent that United have been consistently linked to but his strong contract and a buyout clause of £125 million have always deterred a serious attempt being made.
However, now the report claims that the Spanish international could be made available for a relatively lower £85 million, should the player himself choose to depart the La Liga giants.
In addition to the Old Trafford outfit, Chelsea are also believed to be in sharp pursuit of the player’s signature.
While the midfielder fits Solskjaer’s tactical requirements at United, it is unclear whether such a deal can be meted out in January if the rumors are even true, that is.
The Norwegian seemed to indicate a relatively quieter period of business but the stated price shows anything but that.
