Napoli Will Sell Koulibaly to Manchester United – €70m Deal ‘All Done’

Half the month of January is done and that means that most football clubs will either be breathing easy or running helter-skelter based on how much of their intended transfer business is accomplished.
At Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains tight-lipped about the club’s potential signings, if any, while news of Bruno Fernandes joining has taken over the news-cycle pertaining to the Red Devils.
As such, it is the other deals that may be falling through the cracks and one such report does paint an astonishingly confident picture of a potential transfer.
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini (via SportsWitness), United are making massive strides in signing Kalidou Koulibaly, whom they had pursued in past windows but had been put off due to Napoli’s high valuation of the Senegalese international.

Santini states: “Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around €70-75m. It seems all done. Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”
While the timeline is a disappointing one for most United supporters, if true, the news will still mean that the Red Devils have acquired one of the most highly-rated defenders in European football.
Further still, the source does add that Santini has had a mixed track record, albeit inclining more towards accuracy than utter nonsense.

United did appear to be in dire need of a centre-back last week when there were massive fears about the fitness of Harry Maguire and the duration for which he’d be out.
However, the English defender completed a miraculous recovery and allayed a lot of tension.
At the same time, it certainly won’t hurt Solskjaer and company’s fortunes to have another reliable option in their backline, especially since goals are still being conceded quite heavily by United.
