Manchester United’s Tahith Chong is close to a move to Bundesliga, reports Sky Sports.

United are hunting Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, meaning Chong would have been behind Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, and Marcus Rashford for a place in the starting XI.

The youngster delivered 7 goals and 8 assists in 21 appearances last season, with only 2 goal contributions for the senior team. But his performances for the youth side is testament to his talent.

This is why the Dutchman is about to go on a season-long loan to Werder Bremen, so that he can be nurtured without being held back by extremely limited minutes. Milot Rashica’s departure seems inevitable at this point and the Bundesliga outfit would like to replace him with the United academy product.

“He is very fast, a real flank player and his profile fits [our requirement]. We can add two or three more players [who fit the profile],” said Bremen chief Frank Baumann [via SportWitness].

The winger’s profile is admittedly liked by those who run things at Bremen, so it makes sense that they would attempt to materialise the interest.

However, after barely escaping relegation last season, the Germans are not exactly in a very sound place in terms of finance. And thus a loan deal like this would be extremely favourable for them.

“Borrowing players from top clubs like this can make sense to us. Because of our situation, he’s a player who could be interesting,” Baumann added

According to Bild, the 20-year-old’s representatives were spotted in Bremen in a meeting which involved Werder chief scout Clemens Fritz not too long ago. With Sky Sports now reporting a deal is on the horizon, fans can expect the transfer to be completed in a time frame not too far away.
