Manchester United’s fixtures for the 2020/21 Premier League season have been announced.

The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the entire world in disarray and the usual football calendar is no exception. The lockdown period meant a prolonged finish to the season and has now necessitated a delayed start to the next campaign.

As a result, clubs barely get any time for a “pre-season” break as English football is set to resume on September 12.

The first ten fixtures for the Red Devils are certainly eventful. United were supposed to face off against Burnley on September 12 but that has since been changed. As such, as things stand their League campaign will kick off later on September 19 at Old Trafford.

The first Old Trafford fixture of the season will see the Mancunian giants welcome Crystal Palace, which will be followed by another weekend outing to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s first big challenge in his second full season will be at home against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on October 3. Newcastle United’s away trip will interrupt what would have otherwise been a hectic London list of fixtures hosted at home as Old Trafford will see both Chelsea and Arsenal in the weeks following that.

Everton, West-Bromwich Albion, and Southampton will close the first ten fixtures for the side. The first Manchester derby against Manchester City will be played on December 12 at Old Trafford while the Liverpool clash will take place in 2021 at Anfield.

The promotion of Leeds United back to the Premier League will mean that the old rivals of the Red Devils will grace the side on December 19.

Solskjær and company will have to juggle this populated list along with Champions League football as well as domestic commitments with the squad poised to be stretched to their maximum potential.

Will any silverware grace the outfit this season or will the rebuild continue for another campaign?
