LEAKED: Mega Contract Of De Gea’s Failed Real Madrid Move
The Football Leaks is threatening to unravel all of Europe’s top athletes’ contracts with clubs. They have so far leaked the contracts of top players like Anthony Martial, Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil, Radamel Falcao, Toni Kroos, and now their latest victim: David De Gea.
David De Gea was desperate to move to Real Madrid for a £22.9m transfer from Manchester United with the help of super agent Jorge Mendes, but the paperwork for the deal was not completed in time, with both clubs blaming each other for the failure to complete the transfer.
Chunks of major information continues to get revealed from the contract, with the biggest one being that his former club Atletico Madrid would have earned nearly €12m-a-year, out of which the major parts would have been bonuses, had De Gea left Old Trafford to join Los Blancos that summer.
The 25-year-old was due to pick up around £175,000 a week plus bonuses, until June 30, 2021, and the Spaniard would have received a signing fee of £8.4million, and racked up €86,138,183 (£66.7m) over the course of six years.
And in any case of the termination of contract, the soon-to-be Spanish Number One would have been liable to a mammoth €500m compensation fee.
