Roy Hodgson To Hand First England Cap To Leicester City Midfielder

Roy Hodgson is giving serious consideration to calling up 25-year-old Danny Drinkwater for the March friendlies against Germany and Holland.

England manager Hodgson was in the stands at the King Power Stadium as Drinkwater impressed in Leicester’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool last Tuesday and will have the 25-year-old monitored in the coming weeks.

The midfielder is enjoying a fantastic season with league leaders Leicester City and was excellent again as the Foxes thrashed Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad.

Taylor, whose varied career has included a spell as Three Lions caretaker manager, told talkSPORT: “He has been brought up the right way at Manchester United.

“He is a very, very good player and at the end of the season if you have got good players that have still got good energy, which I’m sure that boy will have, then he has got to be a contender [for Euro 2016 selection].”
