Scholes: ‘Rashford Hits Free Kicks Like Cristiano Ronaldo’
Manchester United Legend Paul Scholes has revealed that youngster Marcus Rashford uses a technique much similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s when taking free kicks.
Paul Scholes has heaped enormous praise on the 18-year-old, who scored back-to-back braces – first on his United debut against FC Midtjylland, and then on his Premier League debut against Arsenal. His stellar performances also won him Manchester United’s Player of the Month Award in February.
Scholes has stated that Rashford’s impressive displays haven’t shocked him one bit, since he was always aware of the massive talent the young English forward possessed.
In an interview with fanzine United We Stand, Scholes said: “Rashford is no surprise to me at all. I’ve seen him play since he was 14 or 15 and then in Paul McGuiness’s (ex-Under 18 boss) side.
“You always knew the talent was there. He’s obviously only played a few times for the first team and his goals have been what you’d call “goalscorers’ goals” but he’s got so much more than that.
“He’s quick and he’s good outside the box and he can smash a ball too. You’ve not seen any yet, but he hits free kicks in a dipping fashion, almost the way [Cristiano] Ronaldo does.”
