Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has stated that he is confident Antonio Conte will do well in English football.

The Italian defender has seemingly confirmed rumours that Italian manager Antonio Conte, who has already announced he will be leaving the Azzuri job at the end of this summer’s European Championship, is set to arrive in England to replace Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink.

“I think Conte will do well in England,” Darmian told Rai Sport.

“He has already proved that he is a great Coach and will have no problem adapting to English football.”

The 26-year-old is also confident that the Italian side “won’t just make a cameo at Euro 2016”.

“We knew that Spain had great champions and Alvaro Morata is one of them, but today we limited a great opponent and put in a fine performance,” he said following Italy’s friendly with Spain.

“It’s a shame we didn’t get the win, but the performance and spirit shown tonight gives us more confidence working towards Euro 2016.

“We don’t have much time to work, but in training we try to absorb what the Coach asks of us as well as possible. We have a few more days to work and will certainly be ready for Euro 2016.

“We will not just be making a cameo at Euro 2016.”
