The Germans where awarded a chance to double their lead against Slovakia when Mario Gomez was fouled inside the box by Martin Skrtel. However, Mesut Ozil ended up missing the penalty, just a day after his new club team-mate Granit Xhaka missed his spot kick during penalty shoot-out.
