Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign John Stones from Everton, according to The Sun.
Manchester City’s new incoming manager Pep Guardiola seems to have set his eyes on Everton center-back John Stones, after having failed to sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao – who rejected City’s offer in favour of staying with his current club, and signed a new release clause worth €65 million.

As per The Sun‘s report, Guardiola is a huge fan of John Stones, and wants the youngster to be his primary ball-playing defender in the Manchester City defence, especially with Martin Demichelis leaving, Vincent Kompany being consistently injured, and Eliaquim Mangala being repeatedly in and out of form.
Moreover, the report further states that the Spanish tactician will also examine and assess the remaining two City centre-backs – Nicolas Otamendi and Jason Denayer – in pre-season, and make a decision regarding their future accordingly.
However, Manchester City are not the only club interested in the the 22-year-old’s services. Rumours suggest that their arch-rivals Manchester United, as well as Chelsea, are also showing keen interest in the defender.
In fact, Jose Mourinho is also a huge admirer of Stones, and tried to lure him to Chelsea last summer by making numerous offers for him, but to no avail. But it remains very likely that the Special One will try his luck again, and convince Stones to join him at his new home – the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford.
