Manchester United are looking to sign France’s midfield duo of Blaise Matuidi and Paul Pogba this summer, according to ESPN.
There has already been a lot of speculation about Pogba’s return to Manchester, especially after Sky Sports’ trusted Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio revealed that the Old Trafford club were readying a world transfer record-breaking offer worth €120 million to re-sign their youth academy graduate.
The report also stated that United were willing to offer the Frenchman €13m-per-season in wages, and that his agent, Mino Raiola, would be presenting the offer to Juventus following the conclusion of the Euro 2016 tournament.

On the other hand, circulating rumours also suggested that in case Manchester United failed to sign Pogba this summer, Jose Mourinho would be turning his attention towards Paris Saint Germain’s Blaise Matuidi.
As per reports, the French midfielder, who currently has only two years left on his PSG contract, would cost United €25m – a small sum compared to what they will be paying for their primary transfer target, Paul Pogba.
But now, ESPN sources have revealed contrary information, which states that Matuidi isn’t exactly an alternative to Pogba, but actually as important a transfer target of Jose’s, as Pogba.
The ‘Special One’ is apparently looking to sign both the Frenchmen, so as to revitalize the Manchester United midfield, and transform the Red Devils into genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season.
The partnership of Pogba and Matuidi in France’s midfield has been an effective one in the Euro 2016 so far, with both players having played 6 games in the tournament, and losing none of them.
And if the duo goes on to win the competition by beating Portugal on Sunday, Mourinho will have a ready-made title-winning midfield partnership at his service, provided Manchester United do successfully sign them.
