Revealed: Why Real Madrid Turned Down Pogba

Back in 2012, a 19-year-old Pogba left Manchester United with the aim of finding a club that would give him a chance.

The French international had constantly pestered the Red Devils to give him a chance in the first team. His mother discussed with the AS about how Pogba “cried and cried in Ferguson’s office about the lack of opportunities.”

Sir Alex was still reluctant to give the midfielder a chance, and instead opted to bring Paul Scholes out of retirement.

It was then that Real Madrid had the chance to secure the youngster’s services for a mere £100,000. But, the Los Blancos denied the opportunity to sign Pogba, because Florentino Perez thought that the player was “too cheap,” as reported by the Spanish News Agency, AS.

It would now take a fee greater than £100,000,000 to bring the French midfielder to the Spanish capital – a fee that United have already proposed to Juventus.

Reports from Sky Sports suggest that Real Madrid are no longer pursuing the signature of Paul Pogba.
