The past month or so has been an extremely exciting one for Jose Mourinho.
The new Manchester United boss experienced various notable events – from completing new signings for his new club, giving his first press conference, and watching his country win the Euro 2016, to something as bizarre as having his house broken-in by a burglar!
As per The Sun, a thief broke into the Special One’s house last week. The criminal entered the property via the basement door, when Jose was busy cheering for the Portuguese side in the Euros.
A source described the whole fiasco in detail to The Sun.
He was quoted as saying: “The prowler was trying not to be obvious but he clearly did not fit in with such an upscale area. The guard saw him trying all the house doors, leaning against them with his shoulder. He followed him on the opposite side of the road, using the cars for cover. He usually has a dog with him, but this time he did not.
“The first open door the guy found was Jose’s basement gate. That’s not unusual because his staff are in and out all the time and the basement front door is often ajar.
“It was perfect timing when the Portuguese maid screamed, ‘What are you doing here?’ — because at that moment the security man blocked the getaway.
“The burglar was threatening to punch him but he stood his ground. With nowhere to go, the burglar just smoked a cigarette. The way he was walking and talking he seemed to be on something. He looked really moody and nervous.”
“The look on Jose’s face when he peered out was priceless.”
A passer-by also had his say on the incident, by stating: “Jose looked dumbfounded. I don’t think it had registered with the guy he was trying to burgle the house of the world’s most famous football coach.”
The thief has now been jailed for four weeks.
