The current transfer window has been full of rumours linking French international and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba to his former club, Manchester United.
The Frenchman was signed by Manchester United from French club Le Havre when he was just a teenager. He spent a few years playing for the academy sides, waiting for a chance to make a breakthrough to the first team.
After a long time of waiting and only a few appearances, mostly as a substitute towards the end of the game, Pogba started getting fed up. A new contract offer tabled by Manchester United was rejected by Pogba’s party, which included agent Mino Raiola. The option to extend the current contract by a year was rejected too, and Pogba ended up leaving the English giants for free, to sign for current Serie A champions Juventus.
Pogba has recently been linked to a move away from Juventus. The Turin based club value him at over a €100m.
Since the beginning of this transfer saga, only two clubs were interested in acquiring the services of the French midfielder; Manchester United and Real Madrid. With Real Madrid having pulled out of the race due to having issues with the enormous price tag, the ball was in Manchester United’s court. They were tipped to sign Pogba for a fee excess of €100m. But things have changed greatly now.
Mino Raiola has told Goal.com that reports claiming he has met with Manchester United regarding a world-record transfer for his client are “bulls**t”. He was quoted as saying: “All of what you read is bullshit. That’s all there is.”
With Pogba to Manchester United looking to be certainly off, one wonders who the Red Devils boss José Mourinho will sign. According to his first press conference, he said United have secured 3 out of 4 specialist targets.
Wonder who the fourth will be now…
