Andre Gomes Targeted By Four European Powerhouses

Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes is currently the subject of interest from four major European powerhouses, according to reports.

Andre Gomes made 30 appearances for Valencia last season, in which he managed to score three goals and bag three assists, whilst maintaining a passing success rate of 81%. The 22-year-old also enjoyed a title-winning campaign with Portugal in the Euro 2016 tournament – where he caught more attention from the top European clubs.

And now, as per reports, four European giants are looking to prize Gomes away from Valencia.

The first club believed to be in the race to sign the Portuguese international are none other than Manchester United. New United boss Jose Mourinho has already completed the signing of three players since his arrival, viz. Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and the Red Devils also look to be on the verge of signing Paul Pogba.

Having already signed such star players, the Old Trafford club are still being linked with a move for Gomes. In fact, back in April 2016, Calciomercato reported that ‘Super Agent’ Jorge Mendes – who represents both Gomes and Mourinho – had promised to unite the two as soon as Jose had officially taken over the Manchester United job. Whether it happens now or not, remains to be seen.

English giants Chelsea, and Catalan titans FC Barcelona, are also believed to be interested in securing Andre Gomes’ services. Chelsea’s new boss, Antonio Conte, is looking to snap up the midfielder to strengthen his squad following their disappointing finish in the league last season, whereas Barcelona are rumoured to be targeting Gomes to ensure they maintain their dominance in Spain.

Lastly, the final candidates, and perhaps the ones leading the race for the midfielder’s signature, are Real Madrid. The reigning European Champions have already made an offer worth €60 million for the youngster, as per Marca. And if the offer does get accepted, the play-maker will become Zinedine Zidane’s first Real Madrid signing (with the exception of Morata, who was re-signed from Juventus).

Where do you think Gomes will end up?
