Pep Guardiola’s latest transfer target is Schalke’s Leroy Sane. The 20-year-old German has put several European clubs on high alert, after he handed in a transfer request, as per The Daily Mail.
The new Manchester City boss has been looking to toughen up his squad in an attempt to pose a threat to other title contenders.
Manchester City are believed to be have placed a £42 million bid for the youngster, with Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane no longer interested in the German.
Goal report that Manchester City made an enquiry for the youngster earlier this summer, but Schalke were adamant that the player would stay at the club. Since then, Schalke’s Sporting Director (Christian Heidel) made a statement about the youngster’s transfer situation.
Christian revealed: “Leroy has made it clear, he would like to leave this summer. We will consent to a transfer if Schalke’s conditions are met.”
Sane made over 40 appearances for Schalke last season, scoring a total of nine goals. The 20-year-old is believed to be the last attacking player that Pep Guardiola is looking for this summer.
Bayern Munich boss, Carlo Ancelotti, stated that he already has enough players in his squad – meaning that the Bavarians will not be looking for any new additions this summer.
Carlo stated: “The team is very good. All positions are well staffed and we do not need new players for this season. We have very good young players here. You have to give them the opportunity to show it and to gain experience.”
Leroy is currently on holiday as he featured for Germany in the Euro 2016 tournament, although he didn’t make much of an impact, as he was only used during Germany’s defeat to France in the semi-finals.
Manchester City have already completed the signings of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ilkay Gundogan, and Nolito. Pep now looks to Sane as his fourth signing of this summer transfer window, and possibly his final of this window.
