Marlos Monero joined Atletico National’s youth set up in 2010 at the young age of 14. He quickly rose through the ranks and established himself as a first team player.
He was also a part of the Colombian squad which finished 3rd in the Copa America this year. The 19-year-old has played 16 times for his country since debuting in March 2016, scoring one goal.
Moreno has scored eight goals in 43 matches for the club, including three goals in 13 Libertadores appearances last season. He can play as a striker as well as on the wings.
The youngster was instrumental in his club’s second Copa Libertadores triumph, defeating Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle in a two-legged fixture.
Moreno was earlier linked to sign for Premier League club Liverpool. However, it now looks like he will be signing for Manchester City. The player’s agent, Eladio Tamayo, informed Colombian news outlet Futbolred that the player will be travelling to England to sign a contract with Pep Guardiola’s team.
Tamayo revealed: “I will travel with Marlos on Saturday to sign a contract with Manchester City.
“He will then go on loan to Deportivo La Coruna for a year. The main architect of all this is Marlos, with his discipline and commitment. I just contributed a little bit.
“I love him like a son. We built this dream together and we did it with the help of his mother, his brothers and his girlfriend.”
According to English news outlet Daily Mirror, Pep Guardiola has been interested in signing Moreno for the past few months. Moreno’s transfer fee will include performance based and appearances based add-ons.
