Manchester United Close To Signing Promising Youngster

AS Monaco right-back Fabinho is close to joining Manchester United, according to reports in Brazil.

Fabinho had a decent campaign with Ligue 1 side Monaco last season, wherein he managed to score an impressive tally of 8 goals in the 47 appearances he made for the club in all competitions.

The 22-year-old’s performances saw him linked with a potential £12 million switch to Serie A outfit Napoli, but the transfer failed to take place. And now, just a month after Fabinho’s failed move to the Italian giants, the Brazilian international is being valued around the range of £25 million by his current club.

The increased price may be due to the fact that the defender has attracted interest from not only Napoli, but also from the Premier League titans Manchester City and their arch-rivals, Manchester United.

But if some reports are to be believed, the Red Devils are not merely interested, but are actually leading the race for the right-back’s signature.

According to Brazilian news outlet Globoesporte, the Old Trafford club are in the final stages of the negotiation, and will soon complete the signing of Fabinho, for a fee of £25 million.

Similar reports about this transfer emerged from Europe as well, when Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli gave an update about the story last week. Giulianelli broke the news out on twitter, by stating: “Fabinho will become a Manchester United player soon. Before sealing Fabinho deal, Manchester United need to sell 2 or 3 players.”

And just like the Italian claimed, one defender has already left the Old Trafford club, for at least one season.

Manchester United’s Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela has completed his move to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan deal.

Furthermore, it looks like Tyler Blackett – who spent last season out on loan at Scottish giants Celtic – is set to depart from Manchester as well, after failing to receive a shirt number in United’s provisional squad numbers list.
