Manchester City Sign Marlos Moreno From Atletico Nacional

Manchester City have completed the signing of Marlos Moreno from Atletico Nacional for a reported fee of around £4.5 million.

The Colombian forward has signed a five-year contract with the club, but will spend the upcoming season on loan at La Liga club Deportivo La Coruna.

The 19-year-old is City’s seventh signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and Aaron Mooy at the club.

He spoke of his delight at joining the Guardiola revolution with the club’s website, stating: “City are one of the best clubs in the world. It will be nice to experience being part of such a big Club. I want to make the most of it.

“Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. I think he likes young players very much and he can improve young players tactically and technically. It will be great to work with him and to be part of a great team.”

City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, said: “Marlos is an excellent prospect who has already broken into his national team.

“He’s a versatile player, still learning, but we believe he has a fantastic future in the game and with City.

“He makes and scores goals and is an intelligent footballer, we’re delighted to have signed him.”

The youngster has been tipped to have a bright future ahead of him, and is drawing comparisons with Colombian legend Faustino Asprillia. Some even claim he is the brightest young talent in the continent at the moment.

The South American can play anywhere across the front line, but broke through as a left winger.

Moreno will now fly to Brazil to compete at the Rio Olympics with Colombia, who are amongst the favourites to win the prestigious Olympic Gold.
