French Newspaper, L’Equipe, has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain will unveil their latest €25 million acquisition of Jese Rodriguez this Monday.
The report states that PSG have called the media this Monday in order to officially unveil the 23-year-old. The press conference will be held at 14:00 CEST, which is when we will most likely see Jese in the PSG colors.
According to the same report, PSG have agreed to pay €25 million for the Spanish attacker, and he will sign a deal which will keep him in Paris until the year 2021.
Jese Rodriguez spent nearly a decade with Real Madrid, but failed to break through into the first team squad. His chances came scarcely due to the wealth of world-class strikers available in the first team.
It is also believed that Zidane told the player that he should seek greener pastures, as he would not develop at Madrid. The French manager has already re-signed Alvaro Morata from Juventus, and coupled with Karim Benzema, the Spanish giants have a reasonable striking force for the upcoming season.
It is not yet known whether Real Madrid will insert a buy-back clause in the Spaniard’s contract, but it is most likely that there is some sort of provision if Real are to come back for the attacker.
Jese Rodriguez began his career in Real Madrid’s youth academy. He was promoted to the first team squad in 2011, after he scored 22 goals during his last season in the youth squad. After promotion, Jese found it hard to break into the first team squad, and was usually played on as a substitute, or during low-profile matches.
His last season in La Liga saw him make 38 appearances for the Los Blancos, many of which were from the bench.
PSG were left looking for another striker after Zlatan Ibrahimović decided not to renew his contract with the club. Jese may not be able to fill in Zlatan’s shoes, but he is certainly a bright prospect.
