Massimilano Allegri has ordered midfielder Paul Pogba to return to training with Juventus on Monday.

Pogba has been at the center of the transfer saga of the summer, with reports repeatedly claiming that a world-record deal has been agreed between Juventus and Manchester United for the transfer of the 23-year-old.

The Frenchman has spent the last few weeks toying with fans on social media, with him hinting at a transfer one minute, and claiming he will stay Juventus the next.

Jose Mourinho is confident of wrapping up a deal for the midfielder before the start of the new Premier League campaign however, but Allegri is adamant that the midfielder is still a Juventus player.

When asked about possible replacements for Pogba in a press conference ahead of their friendly with West Ham at the Olympic Stadium, the Italian said:

“Mourinho rightly says he’s not talking about Pogba because he’s a Juventus player.

“I’ve summoned Pogba together with [Patrice] Evra [to report for preseason duty] tomorrow night, so that means he has training here in Vinovo on Monday.

“It makes no sense at the moment talking about potential replacements for Pogba because, right now, Pogba is a Juventus player.”

Mourinho confirmed that he was definitely going to sign a midfielder in the next week, and hinted that Pogba could be that fourth player, but added out of common courtesy that he cannot talk about Pogba as he is still a Juventus player.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday ahead of United’s game against Leicester City in the Community Shield, the Portuguese said:

“Our market was good. We made decisions and decided to bring 4 players, not 10, that are Manchester United level. Four that we think can really improve the squad and not just be one more.

“This is the profile of our market. A young defender that needs time to be a top one but who has top potential. A creative player that we know the quality, a super striker, and we are going to get a very good midfield player. We try for balance. I am happy with my squad. I am happy with the effort of the club.

“Paul Pogba is a Juventus player until he isn’t, officially, so we stay like this,” Mourinho added. “The market closes on 31 August but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before the 14th. Normally, next week, we will have our squad closed.”
