Potential Manchester United XI Against Bournemouth

Jose Mourinho takes charge of his first Premier League match as a Manchester United manager this Sunday, as his side face AFC Bournemouth.

With four big-name signings this summer, Mourinho will certainly have a hard time picking his starting XI during the opening fixture.

Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling will miss the match, as both of them have been ruled out through suspension.

Manchester United’s Potential Starting XI could be as follows:

  • GOALKEEPER: David De Gea

Manchester United’s number one has been the first choice ever since the Ferguson era. The Spaniard will most probably continue his goalkeeping services against Bournemouth this Sunday, as he did during Manchester United’s FA Community Shied triumph against last season’s PL Champions.

  • DEFENDERS: Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, and Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw is expected to make his first Premier League appearance ever since he suffered a horror leg injury during last year’s UEFA Champions’ League group stages.

Valencia is also expected to make an appearance in United’s right-back position. The Ecuadorian has been in fantastic form in the defence and Mourinho can only expect good things from him.

Blind and Bailly are currently developing a partnership in their respective center back positions, and this would be Bailly’s first taste of Premier League action in his career.

  • MIDFIELDERS: Fellaini, Carrick, Martial, Rooney, and Mkhitaryan

With their world record man out through suspension, United could deploy Carrick in the defensive midfield position with Fellaini alongside him.

Rooney, Marital, and Mkhitaryan will comprise the three behind Zlatan. Rooney has had a few impressive pre-season performances and will be looking forward to partnering up with Zlatan.

Mourinho may opt for Mkhitaryan over Lingard to let the Armenian get used to the Premier League in a relatively easy match for United.

  • STRIKER: Zlatan Ibrahimović

Zlatan will be more than pumped to make his debut for the Red Devils as soon as possible. The Giant Swede has performed outstandingly well for United in pre-season, and even scored the winner against Leicester City to win FA Community Shield.
