Premier League Legend Praises Wijnaldum And Mane

Ryan Giggs has lauded Liverpool’s new signings Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Giggs has now moved into punditry after leaving Manchester United, following Jose Mourinho’s appointmeant as the new manager. According to Mourinho, United were willing to offer the Welshman any position he desired at the club apart from the manager, but the managerial post was exactly what Giggs was holding out for. So Giggs decided to leave the club in order to gain some experience as a manager at the top level.

The 42-year-old has been a one club man throughout his playing career, and still remains a fan of the club where he became the most decorated player in the history of English football.

As a United fan and player, he grew up hating Liverpool, and has said that he is worried about how well the Merseyside club have conducted their business during this summer transfer window.

“As a United fan – I’m slightly worried about Liverpool as I think they’ve bought pretty decent and they’ve got no European football.

“They’ve got a week to prepare for games, so I’m a little bit worried about Liverpool.”

The Scousers signed Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle, who were relegated at the end of the last campaign. They also signed pacey forward Sadio Mane from Southmapton. Giggs earmarked the two as the players who will be crucial for the club this season, and underlined their qualities.

Giggs added: “What they will bring is more goals. Wijnaldum [is a] very good header of the ball, very good in the air. Mane [is] quick, also good defensively — will do a job both up front and on the right.”

Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign with a blockbuster clash against rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday night. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be hoping for a positive result as they look to get themselves back in the mix for the title, as well as a place in next season’s Champions League.
