Tielemans Not A Subject Of United Interest

Manchester United have not made any appraoches for Anderlecht youngster Youri Tielemans, according to reports in Belgium.

Rumours emerged of United’s supposed interest in Tielemans after Lukasz Plonowski told Polish newspaper Weszlo that Tielemans phoned the former Anderlecht youngster up, saying he had received a call from Jose Mourinho, who asked him if he would take up the chance to join Manchester United.

Plonowski was quoted as saying: “Youri called me up recently and said: ‘Lukasz, you know who called me? Mourinho. He asked if I would take the opportunity to move to Manchester United.’

“He has promised to be a great talent from the beginning.

“In Anderlecht he takes all the set pieces – penalties, corners, free kicks. He had the power – for his club and the Belgium youth team. He is barely 19-years-old, but they are wondering whether to put him in the Belgian national team.”

Tielemans is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe, and is rapidly growing and maturing as a footballer. Still only 19, the Belgian has been subject to interest from several clubs who have noted his obvious talent.

However, Belgian journalist Kristoff Terreur has rebuffed the claims made by Plonowski, saying the two didn’t even know each other, and they never played together.

Posting on his twitter page, he tweeted out: “By the sounds of it José Mourinho has never called Youri Tielemans. And YT doesn’t even know Plonowski, player who revealed the story. #MUFC

Tielemans has already been capped 12 times for Belgium at the age of 19. Since making his senior debut in 2013, he has gone on to amass 128 appearances for Anderlecht, scoring 18 goals in the process.

The midfielder has caught the eye of many potential suitors because of the rate at which his career is taking off. He also became the youngest Belgian player to play in the Champions League, when he made his first appearance in the competition against Olympiakos at the age of 16 years and 148 days.
