Manchester United Planning Gabigol Swoop

Jose Mourinho’s side have already made four major signings this season, but reports claim that the Portuguese manager is on the lookout for one more player: Gabriel Barbosa.

The Sun reports that Jose Mourinho’s side are currently “in pole position” to sign the Brazilian teenager, and a deal could be completed within the next 48 hours. However, Manchester United fans are much too familiar with the “48-hour” completion time, after the whole Paul Pogba saga.

Santos president, Modesto Roma, is believed to have already travelled to England, where he received offers from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Leicester City. He later went to Spain and then to Italy, listening to more offers from clubs like Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Inter Milan.

It is believed that the Manchester United board will no longer spend money this summer, and any new transfers will have to be funded by selling current squad members.

Mourinho is currently preparing the sale of up to eight first team squad members. Bastian Schweinsteiger heads the list after he was banished from the first team a few weeks ago.

Juan Mata was also believed to be amongst the players to be sold this summer, but his recent run of form could be enough to change Mourinho’s mind.

Mourinho will, therefore, have to prepare his budget appropriately, as Gabriel could cost them up to £30 million, because Inter have already lodged a £25 million bid for the youngster.

Gabriel Barbosa, dubbed “The Next Neymar,” could be the perfect player to fuel Mourinho’s title charge this season. But, the Red Devils already have the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford to call for in attack.

Gabigol is currently in Brazil, representing his nation at the Rio 2016 Olympics. He has so far helped Brazil reach the semi-finals, and will definitely be eyeing a gold medal.
