Clubs Battle It Out For Wilson Signature

Championship rivals Derby County and Fulham are going head to head to sign Manchester United youngster James Wilson.

Mourinho has told Wilson that he can leave on loan this season, and the two Championship clubs are desperate for his signature.

Wilson still has four years left to run on his United contract, and will be desperate for first team opportunities. He will find that almost impossible at Old Trafford this season, with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic pushing him further down the pecking order behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Derby and Fulham will fight to close out a deal for Wilson, who will be available on a season-long loan.

The Englishman was on loan at Brighton last season, where he scored 5 goals in 28 appearances.

He has not been given a squad number by Mourinho ahead of the new season, after being allowed to leave on loan.

Wilson is an England international at u21 level. The 20-year-old needs experience, however, and that is something he will not get at United this season.

Jose Mourinho has already let go of Paddy McNair and Donald Love to Sunderland. Adnan Januzaj has also left the club for the Stadium of Light, but on a loan deal, and will return to Old Trafford next season.
