Varane To Stay At Real

Raphael Varane has decided to stay at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman was a reported target for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. However, the center-back has decided to stay at the Bernabeu, as he feels Real is the best place to continue his career, and Zidane is the perfect manager to help him fulfil his potential.

“Real Madrid is the best place for me to continue my career,’ Varane said, as quoted by The Daily Mail.

“It was a good decision to stay at Madrid. I believe in the club and I believe in the coach. I have spoken with him a lot and he has faith in me.

“Zidane’s presence is one of the reasons behind my decision to stay.”

Varane initially broke through under Mourinho, and became one of the most highly rated youngsters in football. He is already seen as a top class defender and the future heart of the Real Madrid defense.

“I am feeling well at Madrid and want to keep developing here,” Varane said.

“All the conditions are right to get the best out of myself.

“I believe that staying put was the right call. I want to reach my best level this season. It was hard to miss the Euros due to injury, but I want to move on and look toward the future.”

Varane is young and is very highly rated by Mourinho. The 23-year-old still has four years left on his current contract with Los Blancos, and looks set to stay at the club. He has been struggling with injuries in the last few months and will hope to find consistent games with fewer injury troubles this season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, continue their lookout for a new central defender with the qualities of legend Nemanja Vidic. The Portuguese manager has reportedly been in the market for players such as Jose Fonte to partner new signing Eric Bailly, who joined the club this summer from Villarreal.
