The striker has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs this summer, including Manchester United, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.

However, the Brazilian attacker has finally settled on a move to the Nerazzurri, with the club announcing the transfer on social media.

The Italians are believed to have paid a total of €25 million to secure the youngster, who has penned down a five-year contract to become Inter’s second signing of the summer after Joao Mario.

Inter made the following statement regarding the capture of Barbosa, as reported on ESPN: “As we wait to see him in action at San Siro, the Nerazzurri club and fans give Gabigol a warm welcome to the club, wishing him a happy birthday and a fantastic career in a Nerazzurri shirt.”

Gabigol, as he is known, is expected to link up with Frank de Boer and his squad as soon as possible, so that training can begin and the wonder kid can be properly integrated into the squad.

The 20-year-old recently won the Gold medal with his national side during the Rio 2016 Olympics, and his signature has been sought after by many of Europe’s top dogs.

Barcelona were heavily linked with the player, as the Catalans are home to Gabigol’s mentor, Neymar. However, Inter’s promise of first-team football proved to be a crucial factor in the player’s decision.

The player has been in fine form for club and country, netting 56 goals in his previous 153 appearances for Santos and even scoring twice to help Brazil win the Olympic Games.
