Manchester United Preparing To Offload Pereira

Manchester United are preparing for goalkeeper Joel Pereira to leave the club on a loan deal, with Belenenses interested in his services.

The Daily Mail reports that Mourinho is willing to let Pereira leave Manchester United on a temporary deal, as he doesn’t see a spot in the squad for the goalkeeper.

David De Gea is currently Manchester United’s first choice keeper, and has been so for the past four seasons. The Spaniard has proved to the Old Trafford crowd that he is one of the best in the world, with even Real Madrid interested in signing him at one point.

Joel Pereira, who is Manchester United’s fourth-choice goalkeeper, is expected to make the switch to Portugal before the summer transfer window closes.

However, reports conclude that United would have to pay a percentage of the keeper’s wages at his new club, as Belenenses are not willing to meet the player’s relatively high wage package.

Pereira was loaned to Rochdale last season, and Mourinho still doesn’t see this as the right time to integrate him into the first team squad.

David De Gea, Sergio Romero, and Sam Johnstone all sit above Pereira in the goalkeeping pecking order, meaning that this will the only option of first team football for the 20-year-old this season.

With the level that David De Gea is playing at, it seems unlikely that Mourinho would bench the Spaniard, unless he picks up an injury.

Pereira will follow a number of United players who left the squad this season, after Jose Mourinho didn’t see a place for them in the squad. Adnan Januzaj, Donald Love, and Will Keane are some of the players who have left United this summer window.

Jose Mourinho will make the final decision as to whether the player will leave on a loan deal or a permanent basis, depending on how he rates the keeper.
