Transfer Roundup: Alonso Signs For Chelsea, Henderson Leaves On Loan, Cuadrado Rejoins Juventus
Chelsea have completed the signing for Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for a reported fee of £23 million.
Antonio Conte singled out Alonso as a priority signing before the transfer deadline, and the move has now been wrapped up for the 25-year-old. Earlier this week, the club allowed Baba Rahman and Kenedy to join Schalke and Watford respectively on loan deals in order to free up space for Alonso’s arrival.
Fiorentina confirmed the transfer in a statement, which read: “ACF Fiorentina announces that it has sold, outright, to the rights of the player Marcos Alonso Mendoza at Chelsea Football Club.”
The left-back’s deal was then announced by Chelsea.
After signing for the club, he said: “I’m very happy. It’s a step up in my career and I think this is the perfect place for me to continue developing. It’s time for me to win some titles.
“It was an easy decision for me to make when I heard the club were interested in signing me. My family and close friends know Chelsea is the club I have dreamed about playing for so I’m really excited about the challenge and I’m looking forward to working with my new team-mates.”
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has signed for Grimsby Town on loan.
The club confirmed the deal with a post on Twitter, which read: “Good luck to young #MUFC goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who has joined Grimsby Town on loan until January.”
Henderson was called up to England’s U20s squad last week and also started in United’s U23s clash with Southampton in the Premier League 2. However, the club has decided to let him go on loan in order to gain crucial first-team experience.
Juventus have announced the signing of Juan Cuadrado on a three-year loan deal from Chelsea.
The Turin club has confirmed that they will pay Chelsea €5 million a season for the Colombian, but could sign him permanently at any time during the deal for a fee of €25 million. Loan payments are likely to bring the fixed asking price down.
Their official statement read: “Juventus Football Club SpA announces that the agreement with the company Chelsea Football Club Ltd to purchase, on a temporary basis until 30 June 2019, the registration rights of the player Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello, compared with an annual fee of €5m.
