Transfer Roundup: United Enquire For PSG Defender, City Bid Rejected And Sakho Rejects Chance To Leave Liverpool
Manchester United have reportedly made an inquiry on Paris Saint-Germain defender, Marquinhos.
The Daily Mail report that Mourinho is looking to add the 22-year-old defender to his current lineup. Should the reports be true, it would be the third summer transfer window in a row in which Manchester United have been linked with the Brazilian.
United first showed interest in the defender during the 2013 summer transfer window, however, Marquinhos opted for a €30 million move to the French capital instead.
He has since gone on to become an integral part of the PSG defense. The 22-year-old can play in either a center back role or a full-back role – both areas in which Mourinho could deploy him in.
United’s neighbors, Manchester City, have also been linked with a deadline day signing of their own, as Guardiola is believed to have been interested in AS Monaco youngster, Kylian Mbappe.
According to French News Outlet L’Equipe, the Citizens even lodged a €40 million bid for the teenager, but Monaco rejected their advances.
Mbappe is currently on contract with Monaco until the summer of 2019, and the French side are unlikely to let go of such a high-profile talent.
The teenager is believed to be on the same level as Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, but it looks like he will stay in France for a few more years.
In other news, Liverpool center back, Mamadou Sakho, has rejected the chance to leave the Reds this summer, reports the Daily Star.
Sakho was rumoured to have been offered the chance to leave the club on a loan deal to Besiktas, but the defender rejected the opportunity, and would instead like to remain at Anfield this summer.
This isn’t the first club that offered to sign the Frenchman. Stoke, West Brom, Sunderland, and Valencia have all been linked with the 26-year-old, but it is clear that he doesn’t fancy a switch this summer.
