Moussa Sissoko Joins Tottenham Hotspur, Everton Trolled On Social Media

Moussa Sissoko has confirmed on social media that he will be joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer, after being heavily linked with Everton.

Spurs have signed the 27-year-old on a five-year contract, paying the Magpies a total of £30 million to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

Sissoko was heavily linked with a switch to Everton throughout the deadline day, however, Tottenham Hotspur are the ones who edged out in the race. The midfielder was also wanted linked with top clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus and United.

The France International held talks with Everton, according to The Mirror. However, Sissoko is believed to have always preferred a switch to the London-based club.

The prospect of Champions League football may have also been a crucial factor in the 27-year-old’s decision.

An official statement from Spurs is yet to be made, but the player himself has already confirmed the move and posed with a Spurs jersey.

Moussa Sissoko was eager to leave Newcastle after the magpies were relegated last season. He follows Wijnaldum back to the top tier, who completed a £30 million deal with Liverpool earlier this summer.

Sissoko also represented his nation during the Euro 2016 which took place in July. He helped France reach the final, but couldn’t help his nation lift the trophy, despite putting in a man-of-the-match performance.

According to the report, Everton had a room ready for Sissoko’s medical, but when the boss called to welcome the player to the club, Sissoko simply ignored the call and went on to finalize the Spurs deal.

Everton’s failure to land the midfielder has sent Twitter users into a frenzy, after the Toffees also failed to sign Manolo Gabbiadini and Yacine Brahimi this deadline day:
