Manchester United summer signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, was substituted early while he was away on International duty with Armenia.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is high anticipated to light up Old Trafford following his £26 million arrival from Dortmund.
However, United fans will be worried after hearing that the Armenian International was subbed off in the first half during a friendly against the Czech Republic.
The attacking midfielder collided with Czech defender, Marek Sukhy, and was consequently subbed off as he seemed to be struggling.
After the collision, Mkhitaryan was left holding on to his chest and soon requested to be called off.
With just over a week to go until Manchester United face their cross-town neighbors Manchester City, Mourinho will be hoping that the Armenian will be fit enough to play in the derby.
Reports from around England claim that the substitution was only precautionary, and the player himself looks confident on featuring during Armenia’s World Cup Qualifying match this weekend.
Mkhitaryan, who hasn’t yet started a match under Jose Mourinho, will be hoping to nail a starting spot in the upcoming Manchester derby.
The Special One is slowly integrating Henrikh into the first team squad, as he is aware that the transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League should not be rushed.
Mkhitaryan, however, has made an appearance in all three of Manchester United’s Premier League wins this season, and proved to be crucial during United’s win against Hull last weekend.
“When some managers buy players they play them for sure because they think about protecting themselves,” Mourinho said of the situation earlier this month.
“The first thing I think about is my team, not myself. Because I know he is a super player and I know for sure he will succeed, I am not in a hurry to say he plays every game now from the beginning, to show everyone how good he is. No.”
