Schneiderlin Linked With Shock Move To Tottenham

Morgan Schneiderlin is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in The Daily Mail.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino worked with Morgan Schneiderlin while the pair was together at Southampton, and is reportedly keen on managing the Frenchman again.

The Mail claim that Tottenham are preparing a surprising bid for the 26-year-old holding midfielder, and will attempt to sign him before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

The deal looks very unlikely, however, as Schneiderlin remains a key figure at Old Trafford. He has made only two appearances for United under Mourinho so far, and has hardly been involved in those games either, making a two-minute cameo appearance in the club’s Community Shield win over Leicester City, and a five-minute run out against Bournemouth.

His lack of game time has been down to the fine form of United’s previously loathed midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

However, the France international may have a bigger role to play now, after Fellaini was confirmed to have sustained a bad back injury in United’s last gasp 1-0 win over Hull City.

Mourinho also sees Morgan as a crucial player for when United start playing two games a week, with the club’s participation in the Europa League and EFL cup due to begin soon.

However, Schneiderlin will be competing for a place with the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Fellaini, and Tottenham have seen this as a door to enquire about the midfielder.

Any move for the Frenchman is likely to be made in the January transfer window, however, as Spurs will currently focus on trying to sign Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko instead.
