The Mirror report that Jose Mourinho is planning to sign Antione Griezmann next summer, and will do whatever it takes to sign the Frenchman, even if it means breaking the World transfer record again.

Manchester United made four signings this summer, finding new options in all areas of the pitch to balance out the squad.

The Red Devils even broke the world transfer record to sign their former midfielder, Paul Pogba.

United paid £89 million to sign the 23-year-old, and reports claim that they don’t intend to stop spending big in the market.

Mourinho is supposedly planning to sign Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann as a replacement for his current captain, Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United and England skipper has been given a center forward role in the squad. He plays behind the main striker, Zlatan Ibrahimović.

However, his performances have been below par during the recent seasons, and calls have been made to drop Rooney and possibly replace him with Griezmann.

Antoine Griezmann has been in excellent form for club and country. He helped Atletico Madrid reach the UEFA Champion’s League final, where they lost out to Real Madrid. The Frenchman also led his nation to the final of the UEFA Euro 2016, but lost yet again to a team led by Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal.

Despite losing in both finals, the forward has been rated highly, and is expected to soon reach the level of Ronaldo and Messi, meaning that Manchester United will have to pay good money if they are to convince him to leave the Spanish Capital.

Mourinho spent close to £150 million this summer, as the former Real Madrid and Chelsea man looks to lift Manchester United back to the top.

Ex-Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal, also wasn’t shy to dip into United’s vast financial pot, as he spent close to £250 million during his reign as manager.
