According to England based media outlet The Sun, Mourinho is frustrated with Rooney, and is going to drop him for the next Premier League game against Leicester.
The Manchester United captain has had a lacklustre start to the season as Manchester United suffered three back to back losses. United surprisingly lost 3-1 to Watford, with Rooney having a dismal game.
Rooney did not create any chances from open play despite starting behind the striker, a position that could be reserved for more creative players in the team.

Despite taking corners and freekicks, Rooney only created two chances. He only had one shot all game, and that too was off target. He put in a shabby performance defensively too, as he lost two out of three aerial duels and failed to put in a tackle.
The Englishman only made 33 successful passes, 27 of which were either sideways or backwards, something reminiscent of the Van Gaal days.

Rooney joined Manchester United for a fee of £25.6 million, and it was the highest fee ever paid for a player under 20 years old. Since then, he has firmly established himself as one of United’s all time greats, and has a chance to be the club’s greatest goal scorer of all time.
Unfortunately, according to fans and pundits alike, the time has come for Wayne to take a step back and allow others to step up.

The news left me with a smile on my face. He’s no more the Rooney we knew four years back, he don’t score anymore. At least him being on the bench will encourage him to improve.
Mourhino should be dropped first before Rooney
The dip in form is a team thing, Fellaini, is becoming suspect, Rooney’ s fitness is a concern, Pogba’ s position is questionable, Ibrahimovic is becoming wasteful, Martial has been like the biblical Judas Iscariot, betraying trust . Rashford and Bailey are the only shinning light, everybody needs to up their game. Or else Mourinho will be hanging on a cliff.
