Zlatan Ibrahimovic apparently rejected a stunning £86 million bid from a Chinese club in order to join Manchester United, his agent Mino Raiola has claimed.

Ibrahimovic signed for United in the summer on a one-year contract, with the option of extending a further year.

Doubts were raised as to whether the striker would do any good in the Premier League, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger among the big names who questioned whether the striker’s age would be a hindrance in him adapting to the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

However, Ibrahimovic could not have answered his critics in a better manner. The striker has now scored 5 goals in 8 appearances for United, leading to praise being lavished on him by Mourinho, who claimed he was certain that the striker would stay at the club beyond the current season.

However, it has been revealed that the 34-year-old Swedish striker might not even have ended up at Old Trafford had he only been concerned about the amount entering his bank account.

His agent Mino Raiola confirmed that despite the offers, Zlatan was desperate for another shot at the highest level in the Premier League, and joined United with the motive of winning trophies.

“Ibrahimovic is the best,” Raiola said. “He turned down £86 million (€100m) net from the Chinese! He doesn’t want more money, he wants to win.”
