Real Madrid defender Pepe is all set to sign a deal with the Chinese Super League and finally bring his grand La Liga career to a close.

The 33-year-old Portuguese defender is fast approaching the end of his contract with his current club, and has hence been the topic of many rumours and discussions in the past few months.

With the defender having such a history and skill set along with experience and title winning knowledge, big clubs like Manchester United and Juventus were rumoured to be linked with and interested in the Portuguese international.

However, there are claims suggesting that China has been chosen by Pepe as his next destination, with Hebei Fortune being the club ready to offer a contract worth £15 million per season, which is equivalent to three times his current Madrid earnings.

A bonus in this move is the fact that Hebei’s current manager is Manuel Pellegrini, who managed Pepe during his Real Madrid coaching days and has a good rapport with the player.

Pepe has spent over 10 years with the Spanish giants, and has made 220 appearances for the club so far, winning two UCL titles, La Liga titles and becoming one of the most feared and competitive defenders around the globe in the process. He formed a formidable partnership with Ramos at the back, and recently, was also successful with Portugal in lifting the 2016 Euro Trophy.

Now, Pepe is ready to embark on the next and possibly the final chapter of his footballing career in China, and we hope the Far East is prepared for his volatility.
