Arsene Wenger’s Future Will Be Decided At The End Of The Season
Arsene Wenger’s future as the manager of Arsenal will be decided at the end of the season, but an option of signing a new contract is still on the table – reports BBC.
Even though the Gunners faced a humiliating 5-1 defeat at hands of Bayern Munich quite recently, Wenger leaving the north London institution is still not an agenda and the same source has further stated that his future will be decided at the end of the season mutually.
Wenger, like many other times, mentioned that his stay at the club depends on how the team performs and finishes at the end of the season, and judging by the look of those things, they aren’t doing well enough on the pitch.
It is expected that Arsenal wants the Frenchman, whose contract is about to expire at the end of the season, to stay and a new two-year deal is on the cards, but the 67-year-old boss will take a thorough glance before deciding anything.
Wenger has been there with Arsenal since 1996 and has won three Premier League and six FA cup, but sadly, only two have been won in the past decade.
Furthermore, even though they have failed to get past the knockout stages of the Champions League for the past six years, Wenger has guided them to at least qualify for the competition for past 14 years. Quite an achievement it is!
Arsenal’s last trophy came back in 2015 – when they defeated Aston Villa by four goals to nil to retain their FA cup title – which they also won in 2014.

It is not a secret anymore that Wenger is under immense pressure, but it seems like the board has a great faith in him and still believes in him. Besides all of this, several former Gunners have raised their voices and have given their opinion about Wenger’s current scenario.
Former England and Arsenal full-back Dixon added on ITV: “He just seems so low.

“That is the first time where I’ve seen him where I’ve thought, ‘he thinks it’s time’. The fact that he hasn’t been able to get a response from the players in the last few weeks might be the final straw.”
England defender Danny Mills said that Arsenal have to settle for Fourth again, while Ian Wright believes that Wenger’s era is coming to end, but the French tactician denied the claim by saying:
“We had a little dinner, not the two of us. I appreciate you want me to rest but I’m not ready.”
Arsenal haven’t been convincing so far as the recent back to back defeats at hand of Watford and Chelsea seemed to have drained the Gunners’ confidence a lot.
They now face Sutton United on 20th February for the fifth round of the FA Cup.
