According to the latest reports, Benfica defender Victor Lindelof has already penned down a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United, but that didn’t held back Roma to continue their interest for the Swede.

Italian transfer site Tutto Mercato Web claim the Lindelof has one foot inside Old Trafford.

Manchester United were heavily linked with a January move for the highly-rated defender. No move materialized then, but it’s believed a deal is almost done for the summer as reports of a pre-agreement surfaced recently.

Man United Had Scouts Watching Over West Ham Star Ahead Of Summer Move

Earlier this month, Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed Man United failed in a late attempt to land the Benfica star in the winter transfer window.

The report suggested Benfica’s president, Luis Filipe Vieira, was seen in England after finalising Helder Costa’s move to Wolves and had a meeting with Manchester United officials for negotiations over Lindelof.

But the Old Trafford hierarchy were unable to strike a deal for the central defender, who has a £25.4m release clause.

But now Roma may throw a spanner in the works. They’re said to be keen on the centre-back as they are looking for every options to replace Kostas Manolas. The Greek defender is expected to leave the Italian capital at the end of the season and Roma are eyeing potential replacements.

French giants Paris St-Germain have also shown their interest on Lindelof. Interestingly Spanish giants Barcelona joined the race late on after sending their scouts to watch over the highly talented Benficaman.

The 22-year-old Swedish helped Benfica earn a significant Champions League last-16, first leg win over Borussia Dortmund last night. The Lisbon outfit beat the Germans 1-0 at home.
