Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed on a swap deal that would take the Galacticos striker Karim Benzema to Parc Des Princes and Edinson Cavani to Santiago Bernabeu – as per the reports from Bernabeu Digital
The former Lyon striker has been a first team regular for Real Madrid since his arrival, but his form this season has been a major worry for Zinedine Zidane. The 29-year-old French international, who scored 24 goals in just 27 La Liga appearances last season, has only managed some handful of strikes this season.
Cavani, on the other hand, has been a complete revelation and is in a form of his life. The Uruguayan has already scored 32 goals in as many appearances and is only four goals short of his career best season at Napoli (2012-13).
He has marked his named this season in Europe after being a shadow of former self for a long time while Ibrahimovic’s time in Paris.
Besides that, Calciomercato recently claimed that the Italian giants have shortlisted Karim Benzema as their potential transfer target with Arsenal’s Lucas Perez also in the list. But as of now, Benzema’s link to PSG is making more sense as an offer of playing in home country is always tempting.
Furthermore, the Bernabeu Digital has also claimed that the presidents of both the aforementioned clubs have already discussed the details of the move, and the transfer is very likely to happen in the coming summer.
Benzema, on his part, has been having his share of troubles at Real Madrid this season as a few days back, it was reported that Los Blancos’ senior players, including Sergio Ramos, are unhappy with the Frenchman for being overweight and the Spanish news outlet Okdiario claimed that the 29-year-old was confronted in the dressing room by the veteran.
Pundit Eduardo Inda said: “There is anger in the dressing room of Real Madrid with two players. They have been confronted because they do not train well and are overweight, specifically two kilos each.
“One of them is Karim Benzema, who is signalled by all, and the other is Isco Alarcón. The heavyweights of the dressing room have met them and have asked them to pick it up.
“Ramos has moral and legal authority. Sergio represents that historic essence of Real Madrid in that he never gives up when they are against the ropes.”
With club chiefs Florentino Perez and Nasser Al Khelaifi enjoying a healthy working relationship, this reported swap deal could be on the card.
