Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are bracing themselves for yet another busy transfer window as the manager is desperate to add some quality to the squad to help them compete with the best next season.

The Red Devils have a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season and Mourinho will know that he might need some star players in his squad to progress in the competition.

This, along with players who might be leaving the club has pushed Mourinho into the transfer market already with the Portuguese already looking at top transfer markets for a move in the summer.

And reports from the Mirror today claim that Manchester United have stolen a lead in the race for the signature of one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italian teenager who turned 18 yesterday, already has more than 50 Serie A appearances under his belt and has already grown into one of the best players in his position in Italy.

His performances at the San Siro have seen some of the biggest clubs interested in his signature with the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona linked with a move for him in the past.

And it is now reported that the Red Devils might be close to landing him this summer.

Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is the current first choice for Mourinho at the Old Trafford at the moment but he is linked with a move back to his hometown as long-term admirers Real Madrid are ready to pounce on him at the end of the season.

Though Mourinho is adamant that he does not want to sell, it might be too good an offer for De Gea to refuse twice in three years and he might call it quits to his time in England this summer. So Mourinho is keeping his cards open and is now favorites to land the 18-year old from Italy.

Donnarumma broke into the first team in the previous season and stands as the second youngest shot-stopper in the history of the domestic competition in Italy. He has already gathered a lot of experience and is expected to cost around £40 million, which Manchester United are ready to pay.

So Donnarumma might play at the Old Trafford come the start of the next season. Do you think Manchester United can get their hands on this Italian starlet?
