FC Barcelona officials were recently spotted scouting in London, as they begun preparations for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Catalan club’s sporting director Robert Fernandez and scout Urbano Ortega were seen attending Chelsea’s Premier League encounter with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Monday, and Arsenal’s game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Barcelona seem to have already begun preparing for life after Luis Enrique, which is why the two club officials were present at these London-based clubs, scouting their shortlisted transfer targets.

The La Liga giants intend to strengthen their back line come summer, and signing talented fullbacks is believed to be their topmost priority.

As per Marca, the La Liga outfit’s representatives paid special attention towards Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, as well as Gunners’ pacey youngster Hector Bellerin, during this particular scouting mission. Furthermore, Nemanja Matic was also observed during the midfielder’s short 20-minute cameo.

Barcelona very much intend to lure at least one of these targets to the Camp Nou in the summer. However, given the huge wage demands these Premier League stars tend to make, the Blaugrana have also identified a few cheaper backup alternatives if all of these deals fail to materialise – Valencia’s Joao Cancelo being one of them.
