Toni Kroos will consider joining Manchester United in the summer if Real Madrid fail to win a single trophy this season, according to reports in Spain.

Kroos has been linked with the Red Devils since 2013, back when David Moyes attempted to sign the then Bayern Munich star. However, the German international decided to turn down the Scot’s offer, and left Bavaria to move to the Spanish capital instead.

Since signing for Real Madrid in 2014, the midfielder has had an immensely successful spell, having won 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 UEFA Champions League, and 2 FIFA Club World Cups already. And with his team still in the midst of two competitions this season, the 27-year-old has the chance to add more medals to his collection this year.

Having already crashed out of the Copa Del Rey, the Los Blancos have also managed to blow their 7-point lead at the top of the La Liga standings, and currently sit second in the table – one point behind Barcelona, but with a game in hand over the leaders.

However, they continue to fight hard in the league nonetheless, and simultaneously strive to defend their European crown in the Champions League Round of 16 stage, wherein a win over Napoli in the second leg this week will take them through to the quarterfinals.

Zinedine Zidane’s men continue to have a fair chance of winning at least one major trophy this season, if not the double. However, failure to do so would result in much more disastrous consequences for the team as a whole than simply ending this campaign trophyless, according to latest report from Diario Gol.

As per the Spanish news outlet, if Real Madrid fail to win any silverware this season, a frustrated Toni Kroos will part ways with the Madrid-based outfit, and consider moving to the Premier League, with Manchester United labelled as his most likely destination.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be a big fan of the midfield maestro, who according to club legend and football pundit Paul Scholes, will be a perfect fit alongside United midfielders Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba. And if emerging rumours are to be believed, the Portuguese will not hesitate to break the bank to secure Kroos’ services this summer.
