Atletico Madrid have given up all hopes of keeping hold of Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.

Griezmann joined Atletico from Real Sociedad for a fee of £24m in 2014, and has since developed into a world-class forward, having already bagged 57 goals in 101 appearances for the Madrid-based outfit so far.

However, his terrific form has attracted the interest of numerous top clubs from all across Europe, and his future at the La Liga club now seems as insecure as ever.

Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all rumoured to be interested in the Frenchman’s services, but Premier League giants Manchester United have been the apparent frontrunners in this transfer race all along.

In fact, some sources even claimed that Griezmann had already signed a pre-agreement with the Red Devils, and a summer move was all but imminent.

And despite the 25-year-old responding to these reports by dismissing the speculation and committing his future with Atletico Madrid, an inside source from the club has revealed that the talented forward is set to part ways with the Spanish outfit come summer.

The Atletico Madrid source was quoted as saying (via The Sun): “We know now we are going to lose Antoine, it is a matter of when not if.

“The club are hoping they can keep him and Diego Simeone for one last season, going into the new ground. It is going to be tough, though, as some big clubs around Europe are looking at buying him for a lot of money.”

The report further adds that Atletico have already begun preparations for life after Griezmann, and are now in the hunt for the star man’s possible replacement.
