Barcelona are set to make a shock move for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, according to The Express.

Griezmann’s future at Atletico has been under immense doubt for quite some time, with the Frenchman being linked with a big-money move to Manchester United. But these reports linking the forward with a switch to the Premier League have dwindled lately, after the player himself expressed his dislike towards the weather in England.

However, it remains unsure as to whether the 26-year-old will prolong his stay with the Rojiblancos, especially with sources in Spain linking him with potential transfers to the two top dogs of La Liga – Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Griezmann was recently asked if he would ever consider joining one of these two powerhouses, to which he replied: “Why not? That’s the dream for every player, to be at big clubs like that, or Bayern Munich. But right now I don’t see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else. I’m happy in Spain.”

But Barcelona are believed to be ready to make an offer for Antoine Griezmann in the upcoming summer anyway, so as to keep their star man Lionel Messi happy.

The Argentine reportedly wants the club to sign a lethal alternative for the misfiring Paco Alcacer, who looks on his way out the exit door at the end of the season.

The Catalan giants have already identified four attacking targets, in the form of Messi’s international teammate Paulo Dybala, Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe, and Celtic’s Moussa Dembele.

And with Griezmann being the latest and arguably the best addition to this list, Barcelona will accordingly make a move once they identify Luis Enrique’s successor as the new first team boss.
