Luke Shaw has rejoined the Manchester United squad ahead of their Tuesday night’s encounter against Everton.

The 21-year-old England international was seen arriving at the Lowry Hotel with the rest of the squad on Monday, and there is a huge possibility that he might feature in the game.

Shaw has fallen down the pecking order, with players like Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young ahead of him. Mourinho has majorly favoured Blind and Darmian for the left-back slot, and when the two are unavailable, the Portuguese has rather opted to go with Young instead of the natural left-back Luke Shaw.

Mourinho has time and again criticized Shaw’s commitment, and this has sparked the speculation that he might leave the club. And to add further misery to it, the Portuguese tactician said that Shaw is ‘long way behind’ his Manchester United teammates.

Shaw was left out of the squad, even when half of the big names were either injured or suspended, which faced West Brom last weekend. He has only seven Premier League starts to his name, and Daily Mail have reported that Shaw requested to meet Mourinho in his office on Monday morning to discuss what the future holds for him.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that time is certainly running short for the former Southampton man.

‘I don’t think any player likes to be publicly criticised by a manager,’ said Carragher, talking to promote Sky Sports’ upcoming Premier League coverage.

‘He’s publicly called him out again and it’s more about questioning his training and character than his ability. I think it’s a long road back now under Mourinho at Manchester United for Shaw. I would be surprised if he is there next season.’
